| A proud mother of four and
grandmother of five, I love pictures! I love taking them, cropping them
and scrapbooking them. A product of the 60's and 70's I had literally
hundreds of pictures in the then popular "magnetic" albums, you know, the
ones that let you lift a sheet of clear plastic, stick your pictures to
the page, then stick the plastic back down over them. The problem I
discovered a few years ago, and sadly too late for many of my precious
photos, is that those albums did not protect and preserve them.
Scrapbooking and the new acid free
papers that help preserve my pictures and memories became the perfect
solution for me. It can be for you too. Don't discover too late, as I did,
that photos and the memories they represent can fade away with time and
inadequate preservation.
This form of art also offers a
creative and original way of preserving and presenting my pictures and
memories to others. Descriptive text and even journaling, can add a
personal touch to the stories told by the pictures, and preserve those
memories for generations to come. No more guessing about who that person
was or what was going on that prompted someone to take that particular
picture.
One of my favorite movies
"Somewhere in Time" illustrates the importance of knowing the story behind
the portrait. The haunting look on Elise's face in that 1912 portrait is
only explained when you know that in that bright instant, as the powder
flashes, she realizes Richard is THE One ... without knowing that ... well
you see my point.
Doing justice to your photos and
memories is worth the time and effort. Preserving those memories for your
children and grandchildren is a blessing.
Unfortunately, in our hectic
world, and especially for today's Moms time is at a premium, and such
things often get put on a "back burner" or "filed away" until the thought
of tackling the task becomes too overwhelming to start and too time
consuming to finish.
If you can make the time
to scrapbook for yourself, wonderful, welcome to the club. If you can't,
you don't have to give up or go without. I can help. Let me scrapbook your
memories for you. My style is very traditional and will present your
pictures in a way that will age well.
