I’m an electrical engineer and amateur oboist. I play in several community music groups in the Portland, Oregon area. I record the groups I play in and produce CD-R’s of performances. See my life test of CD-R media on this web site cdrlife.htm.
I also have started an evangelistic crusade trying to introduce community groups to the equipment and techniques necessary to make high-quality recording. The technology exists at a reasonable price-performance point to enable any group to make its own high-quality recordings, but there is knowledge required. My treatise on this is recording.htm.
I have also collected information about community music groups in the Portland area, and published a printed directory five years ago. I’m updating that directory now, and will publish it here when it is ready.
I have also thought about starting a Double-reed gig listing, where Portland-area groups needing double-reed players, and where double reed players seeking playing opportunities in Portland, could be listed. Contact me if you’re interested.
That’s
me in the middle, playing the English Horn, which, as double-reeders know, is
neither English nor a horn.
