MISSION/BIOGRAPHY
The Chief purpose of Renewed Spirit is to glorify God through song, who has given us the highest revelation of Himself in the person of Jesus Christ. In glorifying God, we act as positive role models in the community at large, seeking to give fitting expression of our profound and dedicated commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us.
Our music should always convey an awareness of His presence with us, and we respond to this awareness with adoration and praise. Our songs are to minister to the broken hearted…mind, body and soul. We are committed to encouraging the believer to continue to strengthen their personal relationship with God. As well as encouraging the lost, ‘whosoever,’ to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, so as to enlighten the conscience to the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, and to open the heart to the matchless grace of God.
It is essential to nourish and cultivate the lives of our listeners, and that we concern ourselves with giving aid and comfort to the poor, to work for better conditions in society in general, and in our individual communities.
Founded in 1982, Renewed Spirit has ministered in music at various churches and events internationally and nationally: 2003 Africa Meets America Switzerland Tour; Headliner for 2001 Evolution of Gospel Switzerland Tour, 2001 - 2003 Thirty-minute CLTV-News Sounds of the Season Show, 1999 Mississippi Gospel Announcers’ Showcase, 1998 AtlantaFest Showcase, the international gospel TV show Testify, the United Negro College Fund Walk-a-Thon-Chicago, Chicago Gospelfest, The Gospel Music Workshop of America, African/Caribbean Festival, Bobby Jones Gospel Explosion, Taste of Chicago, Chicago Tribune Holiday Festival and San Diego Voices of Fulfillment Concert. The group has sung background for such entertainers as Gospel Recording Artist the Rev. Daryl Coley, Patti Labelle’s Coming Home Gospel Concert Chicago and the Elton John/George Michael Chicago Tour. Renewed Spirit released an independent project in 1992 on the Des/Lake label titled “Renewed Praises” and then “Image” on the CGI/Intersound label in 1996. Most recently the group released a special edition CD titled "Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus" for their 2003 Switzerland Tour-II and is due to release its current project in 2004 on the NuSpir label.
