In the past we have had a wide variety of trips, near and far.
They recently took us to the Washington National Cathedral for their Angel Tour and Tea.
They have also included spring wildflower walks, lead by Claudia Thompson-Deahl,
RA's Environmental Resource Manager. Several trips have
taken us into D.C., including a trip to see the exhibit
"East of Eden: Gardens in Asian Art" at the Smithsonian’s Sackler Gallery,
a visit to the orchid exhibit at the Museum of Natural History,
and a trip to the U.S. Botanic Garden on the National Mall.
We have taken tours of the American
Horticultural Society's River Farm Headquarters gardens, the
Meadowlark Botanical Garden and Surreybrooke Garden in Middletown, MD. Other trips have
taken us to the Richmond and Philadelphia Garden Shows, Oatlands Plantation
for their Holiday Tour and Tea, the Ladew Topiary Gardens, Winterthur and
The Glenview Mansion and Gardens at the Rockville, MD .
These trips ususally include a lunch stop, occasionally a winery visit
and are a wonderful opportunity to enjoy each others company while visiting
gardening sites of interest.
Workshops
December usually brings a holiday decorations workshop of some kind. They
are very popular and provide a wonderful time
to gather with club friends for a holiday activity.
Each year several workshops are held to teach various crafts or
provide a platform to produce items for fund raising.
Previous workshops have included Holiday
wreaths, centerpieces and natural ornaments, and pressed flower note cards.
Please visit the
Calendar
page to check dates of future workshops. Workshops are for
members only.

Wildflower Beautification
The Reston Garden Club has a long history of supporting and funding

Natural Center. Civic beautification activities for the next club
season will be listed on the
Calendar
page as soon as information is available.
Community Partnering
As part of our civic outreach activities, the Reston Garden Club has
partnered with several Reston schools to develop a teaching gardens
on school grounds.
Tours
In June 2006 the Reston Garden Club and the Reston Association
co-sponsored the second Reston Garden Tour. The tour featured
a dozen gardens, and included large and small gardens, sun and shade
gardens, gardens with Asian themes, cottage gardens and more.
All proceeds from the tour ($3,500) were donated to Nature House.
