THE RFA MISSION

To safeguard the rights of saltwater anglers, protect marine, boat and tackle industry jobs and ensure the long-term sustainability of U.S. saltwater fisheries.

Frequently asked question:

How is the RFA mission applicable to Washington State issues?

The primary marine fishery in the state of Washington is for salmon. Most pacific salmon species spend the most critical times of their lives in fresh water, either spawning, migrating or rearing. The RFA will not ignore activities that impact the freshwater survival of anadromous species.

Washington State also has commercial fisheries in fresh water.

The following is an example of the kinds of issues RFA Washington Chapter will address.

All saltwater fisheries regulation and allocation.

Fresh water allocation for anadromous species.

Marine and fresh water ecosystem issues affecting marine and anadromous fish.

The RFA will typically not take a position on fishing regulations affecting individual rivers, streams and lakes.
