Marine Corps League Scout Awards Program

The Marine Corps League truly believes that the youth of today are tomorrow's leaders.  The league's Boy Scout Committee is responsible for recognizing local Boy Scout Troop members for their accomplishments in scouting.  Every scout who reaches the rank of Eagle Scout is presented a citizenship award.  The ceremony is usually held in conjunction with his local troop's Court of Honor ceremony.

In addition to our recognition of Eagle Scouts, the detachment also recognizes the accomplishments of Scouting's Venturers with a citizenship award upon receiving the Venturing Silver Award.  The Silver Award is the highest award in the Venturing Program.  Again, the presentation is usually held in conjunction with Venturing crew's Court of Honor ceremony.

Upon request, a Harford County Detachment Marine will attend your next Eagle Scout or Venturing Crew Court of Honor and present a Good Citizenship Award certificate from the Marine Corps League to your new Eagle Scout or Venturer.   To initiate recognition by the detachment, the supporting Boy Scout Troop or Venturing Crew  should submit a request in writing to the detachment.

If you have questions regarding the league's Eagle Scout Awards Program or the detachment's Venturing Awards Program, please contact our Scouting Chairman, Charles M. Lyons, at hcmcl@comcast.net.

Have you upgraded your cell phone with more bells and whistles? Wondering what to do with that functional but not so fancy cell phone? The Harford County Detachment is collecting used cell phones and one attached battery that can be recycled through the national Cell Phones for Soldiers program.  This organization is dedicated to helping soldiers stationed in Iraq and overseas afford to call loved ones. (www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com).  If you have questions regarding the detachment's Cell Phones for Soldiers collection program please contact us at hcmcl@comcast.net.  Since June 2005 the detachment has collected over 6500 cell phones for the program.
