Lost Songs
by
Denis ScottDedicated to Trefor Jeffery and a wonderful Welsh Male Voice Choir
There used to be a few pubs
In a place called Rhondda
Many years ago,
Where you could sing a song or two,
After having a few.
Those were the good old days
In a place called Rhondda
Many years ago.
Where if you had a "bob" or two,
You could have a pint or two,
And then sing a song or two.
There was "Morlais" and "Pendyrus"
And "Treorchy" too,
In a place called Rhondda
Many years ago.
They could certainly sup a pint or two
And sing a song or two
In a pub for you.
"Comrades" and "Myfanwy"
Are not heard anymore,
In a place called Rhondda.
Not in the pubs for you
After a brew or two.
For it is Pop music and Lager time
Where the young with more than a "bob" or two
Never sing a song or two,
After having a few.
They prefer a social time,
Now
In a place called Rhondda,
With loud music blaring right through
Any conversation with you
And a friend or two.
With bingo and video games too,
There is no call for
A song or two,
After having a few.
The men who could sing for you
In a place called Rhondda,
Pine for the good old days, true.
With their love of music
And their voices ringing true.
So if you go out one night
In
A place called Rhondda,
And would like to sing a song or two
After a having a few,
Don’t try a pub,
Try a local rugby club,
Where
They will be happy to sing for you
After a pint or two,
In a place called Rhondda.
