TWO OF US
Two Of Us is a dynamic acoustic duo performing original songs, classic light rock favorites and blues.
Its members, Rich Hodgkins and Ken Rieske, came together originally in 1977, performing in the highly successful Connecticut area folk-rock trio Sundance. After that they went their separate ways to perform in such popular acts as The Wanderers and Autumn & West.
During their individual careers, they have played for over thirty years in local clubs and coffeehouses. They have opened for national acts including Tom Rush, Brewer and Shipley, Jonathan Edwards, and Howlin' Wolf.
In 2001 Rich and Ken reunited as Two Of Us. Both are songwriters, and Ken has won several songwriting awards. They perform originals from their CD about which Fran Fried of the New Haven Register writes, "Their self-titled debut album is a collection of pleasantly played, richly sung songs that you'd expect from two grown men who've drawn from a lifetime of experiences." They also play popular hits from Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Billy Joel and many others, and their blues songs are classics.
Their performance doesn't confuse energy with volume. All in all, Two of Us provides an enjoyable variety of musical styles whenever and wherever they perform.
KEN RIESKE
Piano and Vocals
Ken Rieske is an accomplished musician who has performed on the Connecticut area music scene for over thirty five years. He was a member of popular area acts, The Blake Street Gut Band, Sundance and The Wanderers. Ken began his formal training at age seven with the accordion, and continued with the organ and piano. Later he taught himself to play the guitar, electric bass and harmonica. He holds a degree in both music and mathematics and over the years has won many awards for his musical and songwiting talents. In addition to his solo work, Ken is currently one half of the duo Two Of Us, a popular acoustic act as mentioned above. He performs a wide variety of musical styles, from light rock and blues to his original songs. Ken's piano expertise and his down to earth, soulful vocals provide a quality musical experience.
