BRENT BURKE BIOGRAPHY
Brent Burke was born and raised in Pell City, Alabama on January 17, 1989, surrounded by the love of his grandparents, and their love for bluegrass music.
When Brent was just five years old, his Grandpa John raised the strings and tuned up a standard guitar like a Dobro; then went to the toolbox to find a socket wrench to use for a bar. Brent listened and learned from the music of Josh Graves. His grandpa instantly recognized his natural ability to play a Dobro; and watched as Brent’s skills quickly developed.
As the grandchildren became old enough to play; they were all handed an instrument and taught to play. Soon a family band was organized, and they were called “Bluegrass Special Band”. The group performed in the Alabama region.
Brent started college at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN the Fall of 2007. He will complete his studies to make history and become the first person to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies during the Fall 2011 graduation ceremony.
In the midst of his college years, Brent joined the upcoming bluegrass band “Next Best Thing”, and continues with their band until officially joining Rhonda Vincent & The Rage after graduation.
Brent is slated to make his first official appearance with The Rage on December 10, 2011 at the Grand Ole Opry; scheduled to broadcast from the historical Ryman Auditorium.
