The obituary of Israel Hutchinson, b. 1818, stated that his father died when he was 6 years old. Israel worked on a farm until he was 16. He then drove a team of horses to LaSalle Co, Ill, in 1837, in the fall, for Jacob Burgess. He arrived at Bayley's Point, Dec 13, 1837. He married Mary Burgess on May 16, 1839. She died in 1875. In Sept 1880, he married Clara R. Jones, who died in 1900. After his second wife died, he lived with his daughter, Mary H. Stanford. Israel lived in Tonica after he gave up farming.
Israel and a Jonathan Hutchinson came to Illinois together with the Burgess'. In fact, Jonathan married a Dorothy Burgess, Mary's sister, and moved to Iowa. He left a Will, dated Sept 18, 1899, and proved on 18 Feb 1915, at LaSalle Co, Ill. He lived in Tonica. The 1850 Census of LaSalle, Vermillion Twp, Illinois shows that Israel gave his age as 35, which would mean that he was born in 1815. He was listed as being born in NJ, as was his wife, and a farmer. In the 1840 Census, both he and Jonathan were listed as living in Vermillion Twp, LaSalle Co, Illinois.
