John Hutchinson, married in 1730

Middlesex Co., New Jersey

My earliest known ancestor of the Hutchinson family of central New Jersey, is John Hutchinson, who was married by license, dated on 24 March 1730, and then described of Perth Amboy Township, Middlesex Co., New Jersey, yeoman, when he married Elizabeth Pearson, of Nottingham Twp., then Burlington County, but now known as Hamilton Twp., Mercer Co., NJ.  She was the daughter of Robert Pearson, (Jr.), who left a Will dated 13 September 1751, proved 22 June 1753, who left to his daughter, Elizabeth Hutchinson, and to her “four eldest sons John, Robert, Jonathan & Thomas,” 500 acres of land that is father, Robert Pearson (Sr.), bought in 1696 of John Hutchinson, son of Thomas Hutchinson, “the Proprietor,” of the Yorkshire Tenth (central New Jersey), of Hutchinson’s Manor in what is now Ewing Twp., Mercer Co., NJ.  John appears in Burlington County records seven (7) years earlier than both William & Jonathan, who may all have been brothers, due to the constant recurrence of given names in the families, physical traits, and the intimate relations that existed between all three families; especially those of John & Jonathan Hutchinson.

I descend from John’s son, Thomas Hutchinson & wife, Mary [Cubberley?], who left a Will, dated 5 May 1790, proved 25 July 1797, then of Monmouth Co., NJ, and naming sons Benjamin, Daniel, John & Jonathan.  Benjamin Hutchinson, son of Thomas & Mary,  married Jane Taylor, 10 December 1800 in Middlesex Co., NJ, and my great grandfather, Robert T. Hutchinson, was born in NJ on 1 August 1806. Robert T. Hutchinson married Margaret Wilbur in 1834, and they were later found in 1842, in Allen Co, Ohio, and also in Auglaize Co, OH, and still later in Defiance Co., OH.  They then bought land in 1864 and later moved to Cedar Co, Iowa.  Robert & his wife, Margaret, had children: Benjamin, Samuel, Robert, Lucinda, Albert, Alexander, Hannah, Mulford, George W., and Clinton.  My grandfather was Alexander Hutchinson, born in Allen Co, OH, on 16 April 1845, and on 29 October 1868, he married Mary Ann Peters, at Davenport, Iowa, but lived in Webster Co, Iowa.  Alexander & his wife, Mary, had children: Dora, Harris, Grant, Otis, Maud, Martha, Pearl and Charles Evans Hutchinson. Mary, my grandmother, married (2) Edward P. Sanders & (3) Al Kruse.  My father was Charles Evans Hutchinson, born 23 August 1888, in Webster Co, Iowa, and he married (1) Ica Mae Baker, 11 February 1909, and (2) Josephine Alma Reed, on 14 May 1919.
