Rhys enjoys writing short stories, as she feels they sharpen her skills as a novelist.

"Club Dead," Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine (March 2005)

"Do Have a Cup of Tea," in the Mayhem in the Midlands anthology (2001)

"Doppelganger," in MWA's Blood On Their Hands anthology (2003). This story won the 2004 Anthony Award for best short story, and was nominated for the Agatha Award. It has also been selected to appear in The World's Finest Mystery and Crime Stories: Fifth Annual Collection (2004).
