Active Direct Box Model 2
The Rice Audio® Active Direct Box Model 2 (ADB2) is our most versatile
adapter. The ADB2 can perform all of the functions of the ADB1. The two
common 1/4" input jacks are replaced by a Neutrix combination XLR or 1/4"
input jack and a separately amplified 1/4" low impedance balanced or unbalanced
output jack is added.
The ADB2 features a phantom power supply, three power LEDs, a Gain adjustment,
and switches for 13 dB Gain Boost, Phantom Power, Ground Lift and Phase
Invert. The ground lift switch enables a ground fault compensation circuit
for the 1/4" output to help eliminate hum from remote inputs. The 1/4" outputs
from two or more ADB2s can be passively mixed using "Y" cables to produce
a mix.
The ADB2 can input any consumer or professional audio analog signal
at microphone or line level with either a 1/4" inch or A3M connector. It
can provide phantom power to the XLR connector input. Using a TRS to A3M
adapter, the ADB2 can drive two remote low impedance inputs.
The 13 dB Gain Boost provides up to 23 dB of gain for picking up
very low microphone input levels. If you have a microphone or pickup with
a low output level, this is the adapter you want to use!
