THE FOYER

Below are the "before" pictures of the foyer. The door was missing its leaded glass. The opening to the living room had been closed off and a mural from Hawaii put on it! The hall leading out of the foyer had a door and wall put in to close off the first floor when the house was made into a two family. The oak floor was covered with brown ceramic tile. All of these "alterations" are being undone.

These pictures are during the renovation. First, the mural of Hawaii comes down to open the entranceway into the living room. Then the ugly brown tile is chiseled up off the floor. There was a glue base under it, which was gotten up with a heat gun and putty knife. Because of the upstairs being made into an apartment, there was a door put in at the back of the foyer, to close off that part of the house. Above the door was a wooden grill. All of that came down, necessitating plaster repairs. I faux painted the wainscot area. The woodwork was stripped, including the front door. Finally, there are pictures of the mock-up for the ceiling wallpaper project and the beginning of putting it up.

This is the foyer "after", being basically done except for having the floors refinished. I've included a couple of close-ups of the ceiling wallpaper. I designed and installed the wallpaper motif (Bradbury & Bradbury paper). Click on each pictures for a larger image.
