Join Steve Shuring to participate in a music workshop on "How to be a good dance band" and then demonstrate your mastery of the material by playing for a contra dance that evening! Even if you can't make it to the workshop, join the band at 7:45 pm ready to play.
Workshop topics will
include:
the dance triangle
tune selection
starting and stopping together
'who's in charge here?'
stretching for musicians
What to bring:
· Instruments (come early to tune up)
· Music stands (if appropriate)
· Music (if you have an OBeX packet)
· Water bottle
· Pencil and Notebook
Note: This is not a jam session. Rather, it is an attempt to make a cohesive unit out of people who want to play for dances. Come ready to work and play!
