Satin Angel Ornament

This craft is EASY

It is achievable by anyone.

MATERIALS:
1/4 yd. satin fabric (white or pastel)
1/4 yd. fusible webbing
two 4" square lace or lace fabric
1/4 yd. piece flexible trimming
1/4 yd. 1/4"-wide satin ribbon
one 25mm round wooden bead with center hole
one 7/8"-dia. gold-color ring
glue
scissors
pins
ruler
compass
paper for patterns
pencil

DIRECTIONS:
1. Following the directions that come with fusible webbing, fuse the squares of lace together. Cut two 6" squares of the satin. Fuse them with their wrong sides together. Cut a 2" x 6" piece of satin. Cut a 1" x 6" strip of fusible web. Place the webbing strip, centered, on the wrong side of the satin and fold the long edges of the satin over the webbing to the center of the strip. Fuse.

2. Fold the strip, right sides together, and sew the short ends together (1/4" seam). This is the arm piece, and the seam is center front.

3. Draw a 4 3/4"-dia. circle on the paper. Divide the circle into quarters. Cut out one-quarter for the body pattern. Measuring from the center, mark 1 1/4" on each straight edge. Connect these points and cut across this line and discard the triangle. Using the pattern, cut the fused satin. Glue the ribbon down one side of the body piece, starting at the hem and allowing 5 1/2" free at the top edge.

4. Fold the free end of the ribbon to the inside of the body piece to make a loop. With about 1/4" of ribbon inside the body piece, glue in place.

5. Glue the trimming to the bottom (curved) edge of the body piece. Overlap the straight sides of the body piece, with the ribbon on top, by 1/4". Glue. Pin until set. This is the center back of the body.

6. Glue the center back of the arm piece to the top portion of the center back of the body. Dry.

7. Glue the center front of the arms to the body where the two touch. Thread the ribbon loop through the wooden nead. Glue the bottom of the bead to the top of the body. Dry.

9. Cut a paper rectangle 3 1/2" x 3 3/4". Fold it in half lengthwise and draw an outline of a half heart using the entire size of the paper. Cut. Open the pattern. Use the pattern to cut the lace for the wings.

10. Glue the wings to the back of the body.
