This craft is of AVERAGE difficulty for those with some crafts experience.

MATERIALS

2 1/4 yds. 36"-wide green felt
scraps of colored felt
5 gold curtain rings
6 oval tree ornaments for "egg"
2 dozen clothespins
scraps of ribbon
red and yellow yarn
gold paper
feathers
black and red felt (fine-tip) pens
white glue
about 80 paper fasteners
cord for hangers

DIRECTIONS
1. Fold the felt in half lengthwise. Starting about 2" from the bottom, draw a line that tapers to a point at the top of the fold. Cut along the line through both layers (shorten at top to fit the door, if needed).

2. Enlarge the patterns.
(Directions to enlarge a pattern)

3. Cut 14 pears, 10 birds in 4 colors (see photo), 7 swans and wings, 11 robes and 12 dresses. Glue wings to swans. Using the bird pieces and photo as a guide, make the following: Add a small circle to partridge head and a large circle to his tail. Decorate 2 calling birds, 3 French hens and 4 turtle doves (see photo). Fold a 5 1/4" x 32" strip of brown paper into 2"-wide accordian pleats; cut milkmaid (see pattern through all layers; unfold for the row of 8.

4. FOR PIPES, roll up yellow felt to make 5 tubes graduating from 1 1/2" to 3" long. Fasten them together with a strip of red felt and small sequins (see photo). Make 9

5. FOR DRUMS, roll up a 1 1/2" strip of yellow felt to make a drum (about 2" dia). Glue dark felt to the top and bottom. Glue red yarn in between (see photo). Make 10.

FOR LORDS, wrap a robe (trimmed as desired) around a clothespin, back edge and glue. Cut strip of gold paper (notching the upper edge); set it on heads; then lap and glue back edges. Color eyes and mouths with felt pens.

7. FOR LADIES, apply dresses (like robes, above). Wrap yellow yarn "hair" around heads and glue. Color faces like lords'.

8. Fasten a cord to each ornament (except milkmaids). Arrange them on the felt tree. Put paper fasteners through the tree above the ornaments (and through the milkmaids). Hang the cords to the "buttons" of the fasteners. Add bows as desired. Fasten the tree to door..
