Snowman, Elf and Candy-Cane Garland

Snowman, Elf and Candy-Cane Garland

This craft is EASY. It is achievable by anyone.

MATERIALS:
(Enough to make approximately a 12 1/2'-long garland, 23 of each figure):
9" x 12" felt squares -- 14 white, 1 each of red, blue, black, green, yellow
91 flat toothpicks
white glue
12 1/2' of 1/4"-wide grosgrain ribbon in desired color
fine-point felt-tip pens in red, black
scissors
pinking shears
paper for pattern pieces

DIRECTIONS:
** NOTE: The cutting instructions on the diagram are enough for one of each figure. Be careful to keep all pieces for each figure in separate piles.
Enlarge the patterns following these directions. Cut out 23 elves, snowman and candy canes; the red collar can be done with pinking shears.

2. ELF: On 1 white body piece, glue the pants, jacket and hat. Glue the collar to the jacket. Following the diagram, draw the eyes on the face in black and the nose and mouth in red. Glue a toothpick vertically to the elf's back.

3. SNOWMAN: Glue the hat, boots, scarf to 1 body piece. Following the diagram, draw the eyes on the face in black and the nose and mouth in red. Glue the toothpick to the back vertically.

4. CANDY CANE: Following the diagram, cut small red strips of red felt and glue to the candy canes (make strips extra long and trim later). Glue a toothpick to the back vertically, closer to the top than the bottom.

5. Repeat the instructions for each figure until 23 of each are finished up to this point.

6. Glue all of the pieces to the grosgrain ribbon, repeating the sequence of the 3 figures: The ribbon should follow the arms of the snowmen and elves, and the candy canes should be centered. Let dry.

7. Glue the remaining pieces to the backs of each figure, covering the ribbon.
