Pinecone Wreath

This craft is EASY It is achievable by anyone.

MATERIALS:
12" square of plywood
12" square of felt for backing
6"-square tile for top
quick-drying glue
acrylic spray coating
wood stain
an assortment of pinecones (1 1/2" to 3" or 4" high)
an assortment of nuts in their shells, including acorns, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds and chestnuts.

DIRECTIONS:
1. Stain the plywood; allow to dry.

2. Glue the 12" felt square to the bottom. Glue the 6"-square tile to the center of the top.

3. Select the largest pinecones and form a square around the outside edge of the plywood square, using glue sparingly. Next, glue a second square of pinecones inside the first, leaving a 3" circle for your candle. Pinecones should not be perfectly aligned. Now glue a third square of pinecones on top of the first two. Let this set overnight.

4. To build up: In between your pinecone squares, start to fill in with smaller cones, gluing them down as you go along. As you look down, fill in the space with the various nuts and small cones. Let them set.

5. If you wish, you can fill in the sides with nuts and acorns as you go around the wreath. When you are satisfied with the appearance of having filled in all voids, let the wreath set overnight.

6. Next, spray the wreath with 3 coats of acrylic spray coating, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next coat.
