
Christmas Pudding Mouse
   
This craft is EASY It is achievable by anyone.

MATERIALS:
One 9" x 12" sheet gray felt scrap of pink felt gray thread scraps of red calico, white cotton fabric, 3/8" lace trim eyelet edging 1/8" ribbon in red, white and black 1 acorn green and white acrylic paints 3 straight pins with black beads for eyes and mouth polyester fiberfill cardboard tracing paper 5" gray pipe cleaner

DIRECTIONS: 1. On tracing paper, trace the mouse body. Cut 2 shapes from the gray felt. Also cut a 1 1/2"dia- circle from the gray felt and a 1 3/8"-dia. circle from the cardboard; cut gray ear and pink ear liners. The remaining pieces will be cut as you go along.
2. MOUSE: Leaving the bottom open, sew the bodies together with tiny overcasting stitches. Stuff. Insert the cardboard base at the bottom, cover with the felt circle and stitch.
3. SKIRT: Cut a 9" x 2 1/2" piece from the calico. Hem the long edge 1/2". Topstitch the lace trim; sew a 1/2" seam for the center back. Sew a gathering row 1/2" from the edge and pull up the fullness to fit around the waist at the top of the base, turning the raw edge under.
4. SLEEVES: Cut a 1 1/2" x 4" piece from the calico; seam (1/4") the long edges, right sides together; turn right side out. Insert the pipe cleaner. Add lace at the wrist, bend the arms and glue to the mouse at the back, just above the skirt.
5. BODICE: Arrange a 3" length of eyelet (raw edging turned under) around the neck and tuck the ends under the skirt in front. Glue the center back edge to the top of the "sleeve".
6. APRON: Stitch together two 2" x 1 3/8" pieces of white cotton around 3 edges, leaving the top open. Turn; trim the bottom edge with lace and 1/8" ribbon insertion. Gather the top edge slightly and stitch centered under the 10" white 1/8" ribbon apron band. Tie over the skirt with a bow at the back.
7. DUST CAP/FACE: With pinking shears, cut a 3 1/4"-dia. circle from the white cotton fabric. Gather with running stitches 1/4" from the edge. Stuff. Glue to the mouse head. Glue a tiny black bow to the front. Glue pink lining to the gray ear, then glue to the side of the head over the cap. Insert the eyes and nose pins. Pull three 1 1/2" pieces of black thread through the nose, ends extending.
8. CHRISTMAS PUDDING: Paint green and white icing on the acorn; glue on red bead cherries, if desired. Glue the pudding on the hands.
