Rice-Paper Jars

Rice-Paper Jars

EASY: Achievable by anyone.

MATERIALS:
Glass jar with cork top
textured rice paper (24" x 36")
Mod Podge matt (by Plaid Enterprises available at craft and hobby stores)
sponge paintbrush
wax paper
floral paper cutouts

DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut the rice paper 1" taller than the jar height and 1/2" wider than the jar girth.
Place the rice paper on wax paper and paint it with 1 part Mod Podge mixed with about 2 parts water.

2. Place the wet paper around the jar; overlap the edges and turn 1/2" to the bottom, 1/2" to the inside.
Mold the paper around the jar neck.
Let it dry.

3. With full-strength Mod Podge, glue the paper flowers to the jar; press the edges with a spoon to avoid curling.
Let it dry.
With a dampened sponge brush, paint 4 or 5 coats of Mod Podge over the jar, drying between coats.

4. Turn the jar upside down and cover bottom with rice paper in the same way.
