Decorated Satin Balls - Pasta Ornaments - Tree Angel - Candy Apple





The following crafts are all EASY to make. They are achievable by anyone.

Decorated Satin Balls





MATERIALS:
(for each ball)
3"-dia. shocking pink satin-covered ball
45" of 3/8"-wide double-faced red satin ribbon
red, shocking pink and green small Christmas glass beads, 1/4" to 3/8" in dia.
white glue

fern pins
short straight pins
ornament hangers



DIRECTIONS:
1. Dip 1 straight pin into the glue and pin one end of the green ribbon at the top of the ball. Wrap the ribbon around the ball to divide the ball into 6 equal parts. Glue a pin at the top and at the center bottom. Repeat with the red ribbon, wrapping between the green ribbon segments. Make a small bow from 12" of the green ribbon and pin to the center top.

2. Glue the pink, red and green beads along the green ribbon on each side of the bow (see photo). Insert 1 fern pin at the center top of the ball and attach hanger.



Pasta Ornaments





MATERIALS:
Pasta wheels
wax paper
white glue
toothpicks



DIRECTIONS:
1. For small snowflake ornaments: Place 4 pasta wheels on wax paper and glue them together where their sides touch.

2. For large snowflakes: With toothpicks, arrange wheels on wax paper to about a 4" dia. Glue where the wheels touch (see photo)>



Tree Angel



MATERIALS:
Scraps of lace, as follows -- 1 1/2" wide for sleeves, 1" wide for skirt border, 3" wide for pantaloon and 2" wide (both edges finished) for bodice
two white "craft" pipe cleaners
3/4"-dia. wooden ball "face"
white glue
7" x 17" tulle
craft "pearls"
scrap of white felt and gold paper
gold stars
toothpick
cotton ball
1/8" gold braid
purchased gold paper wings
gold Christmas card for sandals



DIRECTIONS:
1. BODY: Fold a pipe cleaner in half; push the folded center through a wooden bead and bend the fold to hold the bead on. At each end, bend for a 1/2" foot. Cut the second pipe cleaner in half and wrap it around the body to make arms. see here

2. SLEEVES: Fold a 4' x 1 1/2" strip of lace over both arms (clipping at the center back); glue the long edges together to make a pair of 2 x 3/4" sleeves; tack the center of the strip to the back of the body.

3. PANTALOONS: Cut a 4" strip of 3"-wide lace; seam the cut (3") edges together. With the scalloped edge at the bottom, pull the lace over one "leg" and tie the top around the leg with a piece of thread. Repeat for the other leg.

4. BODICE: Cut a 2 1/2" strip of 2"-wide lace, finished on both edges. From one (back) end, cut down the center of the strip for 1 1/4". Place it on the body, uncut lace in front, cut edges inback; tie around it at the "waist".

5. SKIRT: Fold the 7" x 17" piece of tulle in half (3 1/2" x 17"). Lap 1"-wide lace over the double raw edges and topstitch. Seam at the short ends; gather along the fold (waist). Pull the skirt over the pantaloons; draw up the gathering, wrapping thread around the waist, and tie securely

6. Fasten the string of "pearls" to the front of the bodice. Wrap gold braid around the waist; fasten with thread and trim with a single pearl.

7. HANDS: Roll 1/2"-wide white felt around the end of one "arm", cutting "fingers"; glue one end to the other are for wand. Add a felt "hand" and gold stars.

8. Glue a cotton ball to the head. Add braid and a pearl. Sew the gold paper wings to the back of the angel. Glue gold braid over the "foot". Glue a gold "sole" under each foot to complete a "sandal"




Candy Apple





MATERIALS:
Redwood macrame bead, 1 5/8"-dia
3 artificial candy canes from craft store
1 fluted candy paper liner with holly design
fast-drying white glue



DIRECTIONS:
Glue the bead to the paper liner with the hole at the top. Fill the bead with glue (work fast) and insert the cane immediately. When dry, hang on the tree from the hook of the cane
