Basic Evergreen or Artificial Wreath - Basic Bows & Streamers

Basic Evergreen Wreath

This craft is EASY. It is achievable by anyone

MATERIALS:
various types of evergreen branches, approximately 12" long (tips are best)
florist's wire
wreath form (3 - 4-wire-ring type -- not styrofoam)
wire cutters or heavy scissors
large ribbon bow (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
1. SMALL WREATHS (less than 17" in diameter): Begin by winding the end of the florist's wire around 1 wire of the wreath form. Do not cut the florist's wire. Evergreen branches are bound individually to the wreath form with 1 continuous length of florist's wire.

2. Position the branches at a slight angle to the wreath form, alternating the direction of each branch. (This results in a more natural-looking wreath than if the branches were placed all in a straight line.) Continue to bind each branch to the form with the florist's wire until there are no openings in the wreath.

3. Attach the bow with the florist's wire to conceal the stem end of the last branch attached. Or tuck the stem end under the tips of the first pieces attached.

4. Wrap wire on the underside of the wreath form to fasten. Cut off the excess wire.

5. LARGE WREATH: Instead of working with single branches, bind 3 branches into a bunch with the florist's wire. Follow the directions for small wreaths, treating the bunches in the same way as the branches.

Basic Artificial Wreath

This craft is EASY. It is achievable by anyone

1. Wrap a styrofoam wreath form with green floral tape.

2. Insert sprays of greens into the form at a slight angle, covering the top and sides. If it is necessary to divide the greens, cut #16 wire into 7" lengths, bend into a hairpin shape and use them to secure the greenery to the wreath

** NOTE: All wrapping is done with thin flexible wire **

BOWS
Cut ribbon into 18" lengths, unless otherwise indicated. Fold the ribbon into loops so that the ends meet at center back. Wrap 2 or 3 looped ribbons together at a time, gradually enlarging the loops until the desired bow is achieved.

ASSEMBLING
Cut 5" lengths of #16 wire for each bow and streamer, and tape the bow and streamers to them. Wire-wrap a bow and streamer together, and insert into the wreath.

STREAMERS
Cut lengths of ribbon and fold the lengths in half; wrap together with wire.
