A local group of beginner, intermediate, and advanced musicians meet monthly in the Dallas, TX area to learn and play contradance tunes mostly from the Portland Collection. As most of the partcipants are music readers, the jam tends to be a balance of reading new tunes and polishing familiar ones. For a list of tunes commonly played, click here.
We are fortunate to have Mimi Rogers lead the jam session. Mimi is well known by local contradance and Irish tradition music fans. She plays fiddle with Happensdance and Gallus, and is an active member of the North Texas Traditional Dance Society. Mimi organizes the highly recommended annual Fiddler's Dream Music and Dance Camp. She is also a board member of the Traditional Irish Music Education Society (TIMES).
