Appenzellers Meet
Saturday, March 20, 2004
Milford, Indiana
By Rick Eichrodt
Greetings,
Just a short message to say thanks to all who attended the MOB Chapter meet
today held in Milford, Indiana. Jan Appenzeller held another
wonderful meet and I just want to say thanks for holding our second meet of the
year at your place. The weather couldn't make up its mind. Part of the day it was cloudy and cool, then
it stormed, back to being cloudy, then the sun came out and it finally got
warm. It was a typical Indiana day!
Anyway, about 40 or so MOB'sters gathered and told some tales, bought
and sold motors, exchanged ideas, told jokes.
I believe everyone had a great time. There were a lot of motors, parts,
pieces, and items that exchanged hands and everyone went away happy. There were
about 20 motors on display, brought by about 15 members. Motors that were on
display consisted of everything from a Cal-Jet to a Caille Liberty Twin,
Evinrude, Johnson, Sea King, Neptune, and Wizard’s. This was the first meet that the new MOB
Plaques were given away. Each member who
brings something to display receives a nice metal dash
type plaque. It is an engraved black
plaque and has 2004 Exhibitor Antique Outboard Motor Club MOB Chapter on
it. This year’s plaque will be black;
each year thereafter will be different colors.
Lunch consisted of B-B-Q sandwiches, cole slaw, coffee, sodas and chips
with an early supply of donuts and hot coffee in the morning. Nobody went away
hungry, as there was plenty of food to eat.
A big thanks goes to the ladies who helped out
with the food and drinks. After lunch,
Jay Walls held the business meeting and discussed the upcoming Constantine
Super Meet in July. Other topics
discussed were the purchase of a new towboat and motor. Also some new MOB hats and T-shirts are in
the works. After the
meeting, members milled around outside, between the rain and lightning, viewing
last minute arriving items for sale.
See Ya On The Water!
