In all of my short time with the club, I have to say that this was the best MOB meet at Webster I can remember.  About 30 members showed up with display items and you could not move under the shelter from all the shiny, bright motors and stuff on display.  I was amazed by the turnout of the items.  Everyone wanted one of those plaques!  It was a great idea to start giving out those plaques to bring the motors to the meet.  The sign up list was two pages long.  The motors on display consisted of two wooden shipping crates, two Johnson’s in traveling boxes, a KG7Q with a RARE tractor racing lower unit on it, Electric starting Lockwood Chief, a restored 1910 Evinrude Detachable, Chris Craft Challenger, Johnson KA-39, K-45, a Model 300 and a couple of beautiful restored Mercury racing motors.  Elgin’s, Neptune’s, and other items rounded out the display area.  This was not to mention all the motors that made it to the water.  I have to say that this was one of the best May Meets the MOB has seen for some time.   Again this year, the Emmett Walls Trophy was awarded and again, it goes to Chris Scratch for his super running Mercury MK55.  This motor has no electric start and it does not need one, it starts on the first pull!  It has become a tradition at the Lake Webster Meets that we have a cookout and again this year it was enjoyed by all.  Nothing compares with the smell of burgers and dogs being grilled outside while the sounds of outboards running in the distance!  Everyone pitched in and helped out and I am sure nobody went away hungry.  After the lunch and business meeting, it was back to the water and running the motors.  In the swap and sell area, lots of bargains could be found.  I am sure that many motors found new homes.  About 30 display plaques were given out for the members who displayed items.  This was a great idea and it has brought out so many display items.  There was plenty of action on the water with lots of boats running different motors.  Quite a few MOBster’s hitched a ride to take in the beautiful Lake Webster scenery.

See Ya On The Water!
