Appenzeller’s Meet

March 19, 2005

On Saturday March 19, 2005 the MOB conducted its second dry meet of the 2005 season.  It was located at the Appenzeller’s Auto Restoration complex located in Milford, Indiana.  The meet started around 10:00AM and the weather was not co-operating.  It seems like the weather could not make up its mind whether to rain or not.  The temperatures were about normal for this time of the year.  About 45 members were in attendance from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois.  Brian Browning, from Springfield, Illinois brought a tandem axle trailer full of outboards looking for new homes.  Most of his trailer was empty at the end of the meet.  I am not sure if the word gets out on what motors to bring to sell, but this year it seemed like Elgin’s and Scott-Atwater motors were high on the list.  If someone was looking for a Scott or Elgin, then this was the place to be.

Inside, where it was warm, were many motors on display.  A highly polished Flambeau, Elto Ruddertwin, Evinrude Mate, many Johnson’s, Neptune’s and a Mercury MK58H some of the motors that were on display.  Lunch was again provided at the meet and the aroma of barbecue sandwiches, cole slaw and chips sure made everyone hungry.  A special thanks goes out to the ladies who made the lunches.

After the lunch, MOB President Jay Walls conducted a business meeting for the chapter.  Jay discussed the upcoming meet schedule and the Constantine Super Meet.  After the meeting, everyone went back outside to check out the motor deals.  The rain started again, this time some thunder was in the distance.  By 3:00PM, the meet had trickled down to just a couple of members.

See Ya On The Water,
