Warning Description: Winter Storm Warning
Warning Date: 8:25 PM PST on December 13, 2008
WarningSum:...Winter Storm Warning Remains In Effect Until 10 Pm Pst
Sunday For The Lower Columbia Region And Greater Portland And
Vancouver Areas...
Warning Message:A Winter Storm Warning for snow remains in effect until 10 PM PST
Sunday for the lower Columbia region and greater Portland and
Vancouver areas.
A low pressure system off the Washington coast this evening will
move southward tonight and tomorrow. As this system moves
southward...it will usher in much colder air and push moisture
into the area bringing accumulating snow to the valley floor.
Snowfall accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected over most
areas with the lighter amounts in low-lying areas and the higher
amounts in areas of elevated terrain. Some local amounts up to
8 inches are possible in higher elevations such as Council Crest
and favored locations of upslope flow in communities on the far
west side of the valley.
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...
food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
