Sept. 4, 2006, Labor Day, was a beautiful morning in Yellowstone National Park, with clear skies and warm temperatures. On the walk through the Upper Geyser Basin, I was fortunate enough to see a lovely sunrise (above) at Castle Geyser (left) and the Firehole River and catch delightful Penta Geyser, left. At 1:25 p.m. that day, Giant Geyser erupted! (See photos below) It was a spectacularly beautiful eruption, with lots of sunshine and many Geyser Gazer friends there. |

The day was warm, so nearly everyone didn't mind getting a "Giant" bath; the wind blew the steam and spray in all directions, so it was nearly impossible to stay dry. Left, Linda Strasser is soaked! |
