He says he experiences another personality living inside him which he is always conscious of and which sometimes interferes with what he wants to do. He has quit being "best friends" with this other personality and told me he is afraid the other personality may want to kill him. He is currently seeing a psychiatrist but has not told her any of this because he doesn't trust her, he may think he will be hospitalized again and has just come out of a long hospitalization. I am very worried. Please offer any resources. I don't think he would be hospitalized just for dicussing his second personality with the psychiatrist, do you?

Many Heartfelt thanks for any help.

I was just told by this person yesterday she found NO term co-conscience in psych books or current search on the web. Offended and confused...I typed in the DID seach and the first page 2nd article I found you! Thanks it was only one touch from your site I readily found two people giving their basic info with that defining term for some of us. Thank you for my ability to send the statements to her...I am finally gaining MY reality of this issue and how I must work, talk or attempt to function. Thanks for giving me so quickly a "reality" check I could easily pass on! Referred By: aol keyword Dissociative Identity Disorder

I am doing a project for my college psychology class on multiple personalities. The purpose of the project is to find 2 websites that give accurate information and then find 2 websites that does not give accurate information. I have to say that your website was my favorite! I was glued! I know this doesn't have anything to do with my own experience or anything, but I just thought I would tell you how much your website helped me! Thank you! I would also appreciate anything else you could e-mail (info or MPD or even more of your experiences). Thanks again!

For years I have felt like I was holding shards of a tea cup in my hands, making excuses because the pieces would not fit together, and was leaking memories like a sieve.

My wife is feeling threatened, angry, and emotionally backed away from me to some extent. I thought all this was finished when I finished therapy years ago and I hadn't had a flashback in 4 years, but I was wrong. Now I'm scared, lonely, lost, and don't know where to turn.

The GP has put me on medication for anxiety due to the stress factor at present but how do I cope and how do I carry on when my suicidal side is becoming more and more prevalent?

I didn't find out until about 15 years ago that this was the problem but when I did I was able to put a lot of things in prospective that had never made sense before. Knowing what is wrong helps a lot but it is very hard to get the right therapy when you have few financial resources. Community mental health resources seem to trivialize the problem if not outright deny it. Thank You for this site. Referred By: a lady on the bus who was reading a book about DID

I have found that when I'm going through a really difficult time due to the past surfacing and bringing more thing to light, I ALWAYS end up working on jigsaw puzzles. It's really the only time I work on them. I normally don't have the patience for them. I find them to be an outward manifestation of what is going on internally. More of the pieces of my emotional life are being put into place. Working on the jigsaw puzzles calms me and encourages me. Thanks for using such a great theme for your web page. I was diagnosed with PTSD 13 years ago, and went through alot of counseling. It was not until 1997, when I started having "time lapses" in which I cannot remember things I have said or done in front of family and friends that my diagnosis was "upgrated" to DID. I just started seeing a therapist who specializes in DID. I am unsure at times what I want to share with her because I am not sure what my own reaction will be in terms of "others coming out." I do feel however that there is more than just me in my head. Your web-site is very helpful in some aspects. I guess my question would be how do I safely let the others out without jeopardizing who I really am today?? It's a scary thing this disorder, I just want to be able for the "others" to feel safe in coming out. Do you have any suggestions? Referred By: self
