My boyfriend seems to have ego state disorder. He says he
experiences another personality living inside him which he is always
conscious of and which sometimes interferes with what he wants to do.
He has quit being "best friends" with this other personality
and told me he is afraid the other personality may want to kill him.
He is currently seeing a psychiatrist but has not told her any of this
because he doesn't trust her, he may think he will be hospitalized
again and has just come out of a long hospitalization. I am very
worried. Please offer any resources. I don't think he would be
hospitalized just for dicussing his second personality with the
psychiatrist, do you?
Many Heartfelt thanks for any help.
Love to you all.

I had been challenged as to the term Co-conscience by a
extended family member saying after years of my explaining what was happening to me. I was just told by this person yesterday she
found NO term co-conscience in psych books or current search on the web. Offended and confused...I typed in the
DID seach and the first page 2nd article I found you! Thanks it was only one touch from your site I
readily found two people giving their basic info with that defining
term for some of us. Thank you for my ability to send the statements to her...I am finally gaining MY reality of this
issue and how I must work, talk or attempt to function. Thanks for
giving me so quickly a "reality" check I could easily pass on!

Hello! My name is Tracy. I am doing a project for my college
psychology class on multiple personalities. The purpose of the project
is to find 2 websites that give accurate information and then find 2
websites that does not give accurate information. I have to say that
your website was my favorite! I was glued! I know this doesn't have
anything to do with my own experience or anything, but I just thought
I would tell you how much your website helped me! Thank you! I would
also appreciate anything else you could e-mail (info or MPD or even
more of your experiences). Thanks again!

There were not many stable things I remember growing up. But I do
remember when visiting grandmas house that her dresser always
contained a special supprise. On the top of the dresser was a large
clear piece of plastic over some pretty lace. When I came to see her
there were always a few coins under a certain corner for me. Thank you

I was just diagnosed with DID, and it is a relief. For years I have
felt like I was holding shards of a tea cup in my hands, making
excuses because the pieces would not fit together, and was leaking
memories like a sieve.
My wife is feeling threatened, angry, and emotionally backed away from
me to some extent. I thought all this was finished when I finished
therapy years ago and I hadn't had a flashback in 4 years, but I was
wrong. Now I'm scared, lonely, lost, and don't know where to turn.

I'm an old time DID'er. I have been dx'd for 11 years. I still don't
get it. We all are more quiet inside and have fewer problems, but
maybe that's because as host, and without the outside presence of
other alters, there's no reason for problems.

I have not been officially diagnosed... but I know my head better
then most I suppose. I always 'toyed' with the idea I had mpd.. or
did... but never truely admited it till my wife left me 3 years ago.
Then I began to question, and was surprised when I knew the answers. I
figured most of it out all on my own, and only resently went online
for help and learning. I'm finding that I have been correct in almost
all of my self-theropy... and thanks to sites like this one, I'm
learning I'm not alone. Thank you for a well organized site.

e-mail address belongs to a friend who is very supportive. (The only
support I have). As occupational therapy I do cross-stitching and have
just completed "The Last Supper" (26inches by 10 inches!)
and am very proud of it.
Am finding it very dificult to cope at present as therapy is being
denied me because it would cost the NHS Trust too much to send me out
of area to the nearest help. Have a battle and a half on with added
complications that are involving the legal profession.
The GP has put me on medication for anxiety due to the stress factor
at present but how do I cope and how do I carry on when my suicidal
side is becoming more and more prevalent?
Please help.

I stumbled on your site today after searching on Google under "Dissciative
Identity Disorder". I have just recently been told I was
diagnosed two years ago, yet I have known I have had this disorder for
most of my life. Efficient medical system, eh? Anyhow, the good news
is I am far along on the road to healing, and I agree that helping
others is defintely a good way to help yourself.
I am interested in spending a little more time on this site, and may
also contribute a story I wrote a long time ago to describe my
experience with one particular "personality".
Keep up the good work, and thanks!

I was recently diagnosed with DID and am researching to understand
about my disorder. Thank you for your site.
It is comforting to know that I am not alone.

I have been dealing with this since I was about 3 but didn't know
it. I was just always losing time and Lorna and I had built a
relationship where I tried to protect her since she was so broken. I
didn't find out until about 15 years ago that this was the problem but
when I did I was able to put a lot of things in prospective that had
never made sense before. Knowing what is wrong helps a lot but it is
very hard to get the right therapy when you have few financial
resources. Community mental health resources seem to trivialize the
problem if not outright deny it. Thank You for this site.

I am a multiple involved in working with MR/DD clients. I have found
that it is very healing to work in a "human services" field
because well, people need my help, and it is very easy to give. The
only problem is that I rarely have time to deal with all of me...but
it seems to work for now. I do have several questions but do not know
where to begin.

I have recently discovered that a dear online friend of mine has
DID. I've been told that she and a couple of her alters have all
visited with me at times...until now I thought these alters to be
totally separate people...some of them have even been online at the
same time! Is this possible? I am doing research and trying to learn
all I can to help my friend because she feels so alone. This is one
subject I have found little info on and am a little confused. Can 2 or
more alters be "out" at the same time? HOw should I handle
that situation? Help!

I was reading through this guestbook thought it would be a good idea
to sign. I'm a psychology major and know a few people with MPD and
just wanted to learn more about it. But I'm also here if ANYONE has
anything you (or anyone inside) wants to say, you are welcome because
I am learning a great deal about this and feel led by God to do this.

Hi! I haven't even really browsed you site yet but I had to comment
on your theme of the crossword puzzle. I have found that when I'm
going through a really difficult time due to the past surfacing and
bringing more thing to light, I ALWAYS end up working on jigsaw
puzzles. It's really the only time I work on them. I normally don't
have the patience for them. I find them to be an outward manifestation
of what is going on internally. More of the pieces of my emotional
life are being put into place. Working on the jigsaw puzzles calms me
and encourages me. Thanks for using such a great theme for your web
page. I was REALLY in need of some encouragement and connection and
that one simple thing helped!

Journaling helps me as well as reading about others. I'm just
beginning the integration process-really I've not found a counselor
just yet who deals with MPD but I have done a host of other healing
over the last 5 years. I don't know what to share with others but I
can relate to alot of different things. I'll be visiting this web site
over the next months.

I am a 31 year old mother of three. I was diagnosed with PTSD 13
years ago, and went through alot of counseling. It was not until 1997,
when I started having "time lapses" in which I cannot
remember things I have said or done in front of family and friends
that my diagnosis was "upgrated" to DID. I just started
seeing a therapist who specializes in DID. I am unsure at times what I
want to share with her because I am not sure what my own reaction will
be in terms of "others coming out." I do feel however that
there is more than just me in my head. Your web-site is very helpful
in some aspects. I guess my question would be how do I safely let the
others out without jeopardizing who I really am today?? It's a scary
thing this disorder, I just want to be able for the "others"
to feel safe in coming out. Do you have any suggestions?

I wish I was dead. I can't deal with this any more. It's creating
too many problems and there don't seem to be any answers. The hell
with it.
