I
started to quilt a good twenty years ago, but basically sewed scraps of material
together or quilted to bed sheets together with thick batting between.
Only one other time did I actually do piece work and use a thinner type batting.
I wish I had taken a picture of it since my son most likely lost it. Neither of us realized the importance of it. It was so cool, but I think I
made the quilt because that's what mom's did, not attaching much significants to
it. Last September my husband bought me a Brother ULT2002D embroidery/sewing machine. Learning to use it was a breeze and it renewed my interest in sewing; sewing something other than just dresses. Miranda's Quilt Miranda is my two year-old niece. Her cousins are between the ages of 17 and 37 or so and the first girl in our family in 37 years. Miranda was my second inspiration for taking up quilting again. This one was my first attempt with machine embroidery on my new sewing machine. I found the pattern for the block, which is a 12" double Z, on the Internet. Then I machine quilted it in the ditch. |
