I had this pattern for quite awhile before I started it.
I was inspired to finally stitch it after I visited my cousin Tracy in North Dakota.
Tracy is an organic farmer and he grows, among other things, Amaranth.
I didn't get to see the plants in flower but I did get to see the fields of amaranth.
