I was into my trunk lock to help out another
member today, and I remembered all the posts I have read about someone not
being able to open there trunk, and had to use a bent coat hanger to fish
around until they hooked the release bar to get it opened again..
Well I tied on a 8 inch zip tie on the right side of the release bar,and the
other end simply drops straight down, without hitting any other part of the
three lock mechanism, and hangs below the light assembly.
I also used electrical tape to keep the zip tie in place should it ever move
down the road? There are 8 screws to remove the lock mechanism cover from the
trunk,5 outside 3 inside, and then you'll be able to lift off the cover and
attach the zip tie as shown in the pictures below.
Once installed you can grab the end of the zip tie and pull down on the
release bar to open the trunk...
Should you ever get locked out,you just remove the four screws on the lower
trunk valance, and pull on the zip tie to get in your trunk.
This is very helpful should you ever lock your keys in your trunk.
