7, 1803 - April 15, 1884).

David W. was born about 1837 in Washington County, Illinois. In 1861, he enlisted, as a sergeant in Co. F of the 10th
Regiment of the Missouri Infantry Volunteers. He held various ranks in
Companies H, K and C and was promoted to Captain on October
12, 1863.
He was wounded in action on November 25, 1863 and was mustered out on
August 24, 1864. See Service Card.

Sarah Ellen Walker was
born in 1840 in Washington County, Illinois. She died on October
31, 1924.

James H. McClurken, Jr., was born on March
29, 1843
in Oakdale, Illinois. He died on November
13, 1933
and is buried in Oakdale Cemetery (New Section, Row 20,
Grave 30).

Andrew Todd was born on May
1, 1846
in Washington
County,
Illinois. He died on March
4, 1922
in Nobby, Missouri.

Clara Amanda McClurken was born in Oakdale, Illinois on June
7, 1849.
She married Samuel Henry Kemps. Clara
died on May 27, 1936 and is buried in Oakdale Cemetery (Old Section, Row 12,
Grave 50).

shows up in the 1840 Census as a male 10 – 15, along with his parents, eight siblings
and an uncle.

Thomas
J. McClurken married Elizabeth Walker on September
9, 1858.
Oakdale Cemetery records suggest that
they had twins on July 3, 1859. One child, died on July
3, 1859
and is buried in the Old Section, Row 4, Grave 10. Elizabeth also died on July
3, 1859 at the age of 24 years and 10 months. She is buried in the Old Section,
Row 4, Grave 1. The other twin, Elizabeth, died on September
24, 1859
and is buried in the Old Section, Row 4, Grave 2.
Thomas
shows up in the 1860 Census, along with his parents and four siblings.
Thomas
enlisted as a Private in Company F of the 10th Regiment of the Missouri
Infantry on August 1, 1861 in Coulterville, Illinois and received a $100
cash bounty. On August 10, 1861, he was mustered in as
a Corporal in St. Louis, Missouri. He died of typhoid fever
on November 27, 1861 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was 33 years, 1
month and 20 days old and is buried in Oakdale Cemetery (Old Section, Row 4,
Grave 3), near Oakdale, Illinois. Although the Missouri and National Park Service
databases identify a middle initial of T., a closer examination of the Service Card reveals that the
initial is clearly different from the T in Thos, and is actually a J.
At
the time of his death, Thomas owned 136 acres of land in Sections 35 & 36
of Plum Hill Township (T2S, R4W). This property was originally purchased, from
the government, by his father-in-law, John Walker.
