Always a low-population Subsector, Firdausi never had a sufficient local workforce to support a significant industrial base. Emigration out of the subsector during the war only made matters worse, and subsequent attempts to attract additional population to the subsector in the postwar years have met with only limited success.

De Sandholme has just concluded a decades-long civil war, and the new, fragile peace is being maintained by an Imperial peacekeeping force.

The resource-rich world of Fabienne was recently forcibly annexed by the Acrux Combine. There are rumors of widespread and continuting atrocities being inflicted by the Combine military on the Fabienni people.
