14th ANNUAL POETRY CONTEST

Rebecca M. Arthurs Memorial Library is now conducting its 14th annual poetry contest, open to poets of all ages.
The Contest deadline is April 30, 2009. The Award presentation will be held on May 16th at 1pm. at the library.
The library would like to thank the Brookville Civic Club for sponsoring this year's poetry contest.
Guidelines
- Poetry; any style. Entries will be judged on creativity, imagery, and resonance (poetic sound).
- 1-50 lines. One entry per person.
- Deadline: Thursday, April 30, 2009.
- Include a cover sheet containing poem title, author's name, address, phone and E-mail. Indicate "YA" (Young Adult), if under 18, or "A" (Adult), if 18 or over.
- Type entries on 8 ½" X 11" plain paper. Omit author's name on manuscript.
- Mail, fax, e-mail or hand-deliver entries to the Library.
- Mail entry to: Rebecca M. Arthurs Memorial Library, 223 Valley Street Brookville, PA 15825. Mark envelope "Poetry Contest."
- Fax entry to: 814-849-6211; Attn: Poetry Contest
- E-mail entry to: rmarthurlib@comcast.net. Include the words "Poetry Contest" in the subject line.
- On the bottom of entry, include name, address, phone and indicate "YA" (Young Adult), if under 18, or "A" (Adult), if 18 or over.
- Winners will receive prizes and have the opportunity to read their poetry at an awards presentation on May 16 at 1pm. Photos will be taken of the winners for the newspaper. Poems will be displayed in the library.
- Include SASE for results.
- Poems will not be returned.
- In addition, you may write a second poem to express the theme "My Home Town." (A special prize will be given in each age group that best expresses this theme). Choose your own title for this poem.
- Staff, volunteers, Board Members and their families are ineligible.
