MARSHWOOD'S
1997 NEW ENGLAND YOUTH WRESTLING CLASSIC

Well, it's finally over. Marshwood's 1997 New England Classic, although it got scary early, brought together over 900 of New England's finest young wrestlers. The first item I need to get through is to apologize to those people who braved out the day and still had to face the LONG and LATE ride home. The difficulties that we ran into around noon time were the culmination of several things - none that cannot be corrected. The assistance that we received and the understanding of the wrestlers, coaches and fans are testimony to the solidarity of the sport. I have received some suggestions and very constructive criticisms, and welcome any others that you may have. We want to make the 1998 New England Classic everything you think it should be.

Secondly, we were unable to recover the bracket sheets for five Midget (Grades 3 & 4) brackets. These were completed manually and were apparently lost in the shuffle. I plan to send bracket sheets to each team that had a wrestler in one of those brackets (90, 95, 100, 120 and 145 lbs) in an attempt to reconstruct as much as possible. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Team Awards for the highest team scores were made in the Bantam and Midget Divisions based on Place Points and in the Novice and Schoolboy Divisions based on Advancement and Win Points. It was necessary to change to place points for the youngest divisions when the bracket sheets were done by hand.
