Welcome to the Home Page of the MINNESOTA WINGS MOTORCYCLE CLUB, NORTH METRO CHAPTER, a Honda Goldwing Club. The Minnesota Wings is a state wide organization with six Chapters whose members all ride Honda Goldwings. The State organizes two functions each year which allows us to engage in a common activity in addition to being able to participate in any of the individual Chapter functions. If you do not ride a Goldwing you may want to check out some of these other Motorcycle Clubs.

When riding with the North Metro Chapter you are required to wear a helmet.

    "Nest" by Buzz Nekow

During the Riding Season (May - September) the Club has a group ride on Tuesday night. At the end of the ride, which lasts between one and one and a half hours, we will stop at a restaurant, previously chosen by the Ride Leader, for supper . The ride will start at the Ride Point, located in the post office parking lot located east of Hwy 65 (Central Ave North)at and 93rd Ave N.E. in Blaine. The ride leaves precisely at 7:00 p.m.. If a ride is designated "ND" this means there is no dinner stop planned for after the ride. Instead, the ride leader will plan a stop in the middle of the ride where members can enjoy a "saddlebag dinner" brought from home.

During the ride season we will continue to have our monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday nights. Come early if you want to have dinner. After the meeting our Tuesday night ride will starting whenever the meeting is adjourned. We may stop for some desert at the end of the ride.

If you can not participate in the ride it may be possible to join us for dinner. Call the Ride Leader to get the location of the dinner. In the event of rain, or other adverse weather conditions, the ride can be cancelled by the Ride Leader by notifying the Chairman of the Calling Committee by 3:00 p.m. The Calling Committee will then call all the members of the Chapter and let them know the ride is canceled and if we will be meeting for dinner.

May 1st, Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night ride. This is the first ride of the season don't miss it.

May 6th, Sunday, The Ironman is sponsored by Twin City Chapter. Ride Leaders: Larry Kelley & Todd Schneider. Our job is to ride along the bike route and watch for bikers who may be in need of help. It's an easy event and when the weather is nice it is just wonderful; when the weather is bad they need our assistance even more. Meet for breakfast at 7:30 a.m , at the Perkins located at the Louisiana exit on I-394 in St. Louis Park. We will leave Perkins at 8:30 a.m. Let Larry or Todd know if you are planning to attend so you can be contacted if it is cancelled. Participation in this ride was cancelled because it looked like it maybe might possibly rain. Almost everyone was notified of the cancellation.

May 19th, Saturday, Spring Ride, prior to the Spring Picnic is a new event. Ride Leader: Marc Paulson. The Ride will leave from the ride point at 1:00 p.m.

May 19th, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. Club Spring Picnic at the home of Paul Godlewski. This is a potluck event. For those of you who have attended a picnic at Paul's home you should be aware that after we eat we sit around a large firepit and tell stories well into the evening. Bring a dish to share, a jacket, lawn chairs, and a few "tall tales." You can come directly from the Ride but you may want to consider going home after the Ride and drive your car to Paul's house, but, he does love all those Wings in his driveway! The Club furnishes hambergers, brats, and cold drinks. If you want beer, wine or another "adult beverage" bring your own. Be a good guest and let Kathy Godlewski, tel: 763-241-0706 know you are coming and what you plan to bring -- she is trying to arrange things and needs your help. Leaving her in the dark until the last minutes makes it very difficult to plan.

    Monthly Business Meetings

On the second Tuesday of each month the Club holds a BUSINESS MEETING in the basement of Billy's Restuarant in Anoka, MN. Although the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. many of the members come at 6:30 p.m. for dinner and a social hour. It is important for Club members to attend these meetings because this is when the members participate in making plans and learn about future Club activities. The date and place of the business meeting is always listed in the Minnesota Wings Newsletter. During the riding season the meeting will be followed the normal Tuesday night ride which will end at a place to have desert at a local Dairy Queen or other suitable place. Plan to join us for this activity.

The activities of the Club are run by various Committees which have been established. These Committess are essential to a smooth operation of the Club. If you want to contribute your talents to any Committee just let the Chairperson know.

If you would like to order a Chapter Jacket, denim shirt, or other item of Mn Wings clothing contact Margaret Sandberg.
