After
a long absence from the web...RobDar's is back! The first thing many
of you will recognize is that we are not just RobDar's Beagles anymore!
While our main focus will remain the Beagle, we could not ignore
the problems facing another of the hound family.
When we first began in rescue it was rare to find a Coonhound in a shelter.
Over the past years we have seen more and more sad Coonhound eyes looking
back through kennel fencing. Whether the Coonhound is being pulled along
on the coat tails of the burgeoning popularity of the Beagle and other
hound breeds or whether it is just coincidence I cannot say.
The Coonhound has even fewer resources available to it than did the
Beagle when we first began working with them. Slack interest and limited
knowledge of the breed makes adoptions slow in coming and keep many
other rescues willing to accept them full for extended periods. A trip
to the shelter all too often is a death sentence for these wonderful
dogs. The decision to include Coonhounds in our rescue was not an easy
one. We could not however simply keep walking by them in the shelters,
hoping someone else would take them. So, over the past months we have
done our homework and feel we are ready to move forward.
Welcome to the
new RobDar's Houndsong Rescue Website!
