To help simplify the process of cataloging toy sewing machines a simple approach to numbering has been developed that permits easy modification as more research is completed or as we discover "new" toys in future years.  This scheme is called the Campbell Toy Numbering System© or CTN©

Since there are hundreds of different manufacturers and thousands of unique toys (considering style, decorations, colors), each  CTN
© is made up of three components:
  1. An alphabetic prefix that is either the name of the maker or the country of origin.  Examples would be Casige or Muller or China.
    .
  2. The second component is a 3-digit main number.
    .
  3. The final component is an alphabetic suffix of a through z.  This suffix is used to distinguish minor variations in color, decorations, accessories, packages, etc.  It's a judgment call on my part whether to use a suffix or assign the next higher main number. .
To summarize for example, the first Muller toy is designated as "Muller-001".  If a red version of that toy were ever discovered it would be given the CTN© of "Muller-001a".  A blue version would be known as  CTN©  "Muller-001b" and so on.

The CTN
© System is used on this site and will be used in tsmTracker© a toy sewing machine inventory software package that is in development.
