Amy's Perfect Radio Station

is anybody out there? My radio station would be better than all other radio stations because it will play only the music that I say is GOOD. So if you are a Gary Puckett and the Union Gap fan, you are out of luck. Then again, if you like Chicago, stay tuned in! Another plus of my radio station is that, except for at specific times (see schedule), it doesn't stick to just one genre or time period-- ALL good music is acceptable-- except that it will probably be mostly just "radio music" (second half of the twentieth century songs-- we'll try to stay away from full symphonies during the day, just to save time for everything else), at least during regular hours. And finally, the deejays will not be annoying, and the special programming will be cool. Anyway, this is my plan:

Weekday Schedule

6AM-9AM:
Wake Up to Music. NO COMMERCIALS AND NO TALKATIVE DEEJAYS! The only breaks in music will be for weather and traffic reports every fifteen minutes or so. The music will all be upbeat and singable. During this time...
  • 7-8, or 8-9, depending on when I start work: Beatles for Breakfast! All Beatles, one hour straight. This will put you in a good mood for the day.

9AM-12PM:
Regular Broadcast Day. All good music, all the time. There will be deejays now, but they'll be nice, and their talking will revolve around introducing songs and sharing lots of fun trivia about the music or artists.

12PM-1PM:
The Anti-Brown-Bagging Brigade. Lunch show that plays interesting, weird, and obscure stuff. Deejays' comments are more welcome than ever on this show.

1PM-4PM:
Regular Broadcast Day

4PM-6PM:
JAMMIN'. Nothing but really cool ROCK to help you deal with rush hour traffic. NO COMMERCIALS. Starting at 5 it's Hard Rock Highway This is your Hendrix, Deep Purple, Van Halen, etc. Please, though, no crummy death metal where everyone's just yelling a lot. This MUST be melodic, so you can sing along. Really loudly.

6PM-7PM:
Woodstock Revisited. All sixties, Hippie-era stuff, including folk rock and that. Even the Godspell soundtrack.

7PM-8PM:
Today Rocks. An hour of music related to events or themes that happened on this date in history, or are happening today. If it's an artist's birthday, of course, we must play something by them!

8PM-9PM:
Art of the Album. This is when we take a Really Good Album (like Abbey Road!) and play the whole darn thing. We'll even throw in some trivia about it, too.

9PM-12AM:
Slow Down Time. Good slower songs. Duh.

12AM-6AM:
Anything Goes. As long as it's good, we'll play it. Everything from classical to swing to Broadway to pop to the Muppet Show Cast Album. A treat for the insomniac.

Special Weekend Starter:
On Fridays 8PM to 12AM the album and Slow Down Time will be replaced by 80s and Stuff. You know, the stuff that just SOUNDS 80s, especially. Like Cyndi Lauper for crying out loud. And Toto, too!

Saturday Schedule:

Each weekend we will highlight something-- a particular year, theme, genre, artist, whatever-- and play a lot of that thing all weekend (including TRIVIA!) along with our Regular Broadcast Day stuff. Most of Saturday is Regular Broadcast Day until:
7PM-1AM:
PARTY TIME! I know I need a better title (for most of these), but you get the idea of what kind of music we're going to be playing this evening. Have to save "The Sound of Silence" for some other time....

Sunday Schedule:

1AM-7AM:
Anything Goes. Which is still fun music, in case your party ran past 1.

7AM-10AM:
Sunday Morning Classics. It's always been a tradition in my family to listen to classical music on Sunday morning, so there you go.

10AM-12PM:
HALLELUJAH! (That was fun). Lots of happy church music. Or GOOD church music at any rate.

12PM-9PM:
Regular Weekend Broadcast Day Again.

9PM-Monday Morning:
Slow Down Time once again, and then of course, Anything Goes. And doesn't it? There's your week of good music with me!

And so another week closes on the radio station where ALL the music is worth broadcasting. Don't you think radio should be this good?
