Nadia Vol 4,1:
Four Short Summaries

"The Secret of Blue Water" is the adventures of Nadia, a mysterious circus girl, and Jean, an inventive boy, with jewel thieves, Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a world-domination-seeking secret society, and more. I have a set of color manga that was made from the anime series which I will be translating here bit-by-bit. This is part 1 of volume 4, with four short episode summaries.

The Nautilus comes to the "Lost Temple" in the ruins of Atlantis to hold a funeral for Fate and the others.

This place was a city at the bottom of the sea that had become ruined.

After Jean disembarked there, he discovered the grave of his missing father.
Jean's father, Raul coq Laltigue, shared the fate of his ship when the Garfish attacked...

Jean, confronted with the fact of his father's death, falls into a deep depression...

Jean's New Invention

Chapter 17 is the story of how Jean gets over his father's death and is growing up.

In order to avenge his father, Jean asks to become an a official member of the crew of the Nautilus. However, his request is not granted. Nemo says that it is enough that he and his crew bloody their hands.

Jean feels sad, so he takes up the challenge of getting into the air once again. After much trial and error, he completes an autogyro.

Jean, once he had taken off and given Nadia a ride, made a decision to study society and the adult world, not just science.

Captions:

Jean, encouraged by Nadia, launches into a new invention.

This was a flying machine, an "autogyro."

"Fly!" he said, when he finally finished it and began testing.

The autogyro is flying with Nadia and Jean riding on it.

The test was a success! Jean started smiling again.
