Successful completion of this two day intensive course will allow you to become an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor with the ability to teach the 8-hour NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course, as well as the 4-hour NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Shooting course. NRA FIRST Steps Pistol and NRA Basic Pistol course completion certificates can be used in many states as the training requirement to receive a Concealed Carry Permit. This training course also includes the required 6-hour NRA Basic Instructor Training module.
In addition to the two-day weekend course, all preregistered candidates will have to successfully pass a live-fire prequalification in order to participate in the instructor course. Prequalification shooting assessments for this instructor course will occur on Wednesday evening, July 31 between 5-8pm at an area range in Northern Virginia. If a candidate is not successful in completing the prequalification live fire assessment, tuition paid (less a $125 administrative fee) will be returned. If you are unable to register online, please call us at 1-800-723-6907. Courses Listed as Full : Please do not contact us to register for a course that is listed as full. MMTA does not establish a wait list for classes, nor do we offer any other provisions for enrollment in any course that is listed as full. Weather Emergencies: In the event that inclement weather forces MMTA to cancel any course, MMTA will send an email to all registered participants advising them of the postponement and offer a new course date.
Additionally, course status information will be posted at this link CCW Qualification: All classes permit you to make application for a Virginia Resident or Non-Resident Concealed Handgun Permit, and all courses qualify for Washington, DC Citizen Firearms Training. Ranges: We use a variety of local area public and private ranges for live-fire training courses. Refunds: By submitting this registration and payment, you acknowledge that there are no refunds on any tuition paid unless MMTA cancels your course for any reason other than a weather related emergency. Participants in any course postponed due to weather will be rescheduled, free of charge, into another available course date. Further, your failure to report to the course will constitute complete forfeiture of any monies paid. With notice of greater than 48 hours, your course registration can be moved to another date (pending availability); however, an administrative fee of $49 will be assessed before a new course date will be reassigned. Law Enforcement Courses : Several courses are noted as “Law Enforcement Only”. These restricted courses are designed exclusively for sworn law enforcement officers or select security personnel who are licensed to carry a sidearm. These courses are not available to retired LE personnel.
