Christmas is a
time of decoration in earnest at The Tucker House.

 Long ago, "up
north," I made a set of reindeer and a sleigh as the centerpiece in the
front yard. This (on the left) was the first I ever did of the reindeer.
After "Woodolph", I made five others of this size, and a matching
sleigh.
This is a terrible picture - but the best this amateur
photographer was able to get with my little Kodak. You can see - if you look
real close - the reindeer, elves and sleigh. I'm very pleased with them. The
first few years we would put them out in the morning and take them in at night.
We eventually stopped doing that. I put them out Thanksgiving week and take them
in after Christmas. The would spend the rest of the year in the cellar. This set
of large ones are now with Denise and Wes.
I liked these so much that I also made a group that are
one half this size - including a sleigh. That set is with Dawn and Dave. They
look great.
All of the reindeer, sleighs and elves are the design of
Ken Williams from Bear Lake, PA. He has many great designs. Ingenious.....

During the summer
of 1998, I was in a Christmas Project mood and made several. Shown here is a
large Father Christmas, the Count-down Snowman and a Table Snowman that holds
some blinking lights. All are very popular when they are displayed during the
Christmas season.
We brought Father Christmas and the Countdown Snowman with
us and they continue to be a hit here in Florida. The table snowman became the
inspiration for the gifts I made for the girls this year - 2002, shown on the
right.

I've made several small Christmas Projects that involved little
woodworking and some painting. The snow man and woman were pretty easy,
but very nice on the mantel during the Christmas season. Mr. and Mrs. Claus on
the other hand were an exercise in Folk painting. There were many colors,
lots of floating, liner brush work, and even texturing. We kept both of these
and they are now here in Florida.

 A very
popular table decoration is this pair of reindeer. The plan was from a magazine.
A nativity scene is a popular Christmas subject, so
I took on a simple one. This one hangs on the wall.
Both of these projects are very popular and I've made
several of both for friends and relatives.

 The
latest projects out of The New SawDust Shop have been for Christmas also. The
first was for the display at the entrance to our village. These penguins stand
about 5 feet tall and are wrapped with lights - much like yours truly when
putting the lights on our Christmas Tree. They looked very nice out there.
Mr. and Mrs. Swinging Claus hung from a branch on one of
the oak trees

Of course - the Count-Down Snowman is still here to keep
us informed.
