Enriching Early Musical Experiences
If the parent feels the child is not ready for formal music
lessons, a parent can enrich a young childs musical experience through musical games and activities. Encourage the child to sing by singing kid's songs with him unaccompanied by an instrument. Encourage the child to make up his own songs as part of play.
Listening to CD's, tapes and recordings is fun for children. A child can learn hundreds of new songs through listening. Both passive listening and active participation in music is desirable. Encourage the child to participate in the musical activity on popular childrens TV programs.
