About Us
|
|
We are Karen and Wallace
Wolff. In 1998 we imported our first foundation female German
Shepherd, Halla vom Stieglerhof. She began our breeding
program of excellent dogs for show, schutzhund and family pets.
Currently we
have four titled females for breeding. Also, we recently
imported a wonderful male from Germany. See more about him on our
stud page.
We are a small kennel located in northern California.
Our goal has always been to breed the German Shepherd to the World
Standard. We take great measure to breed for the betterment of
the breed: looking at pedigree, health, registry, conformation,
workability, hip ratings, and German and AKC DNA.

About Roten Wald
and the Coast Redwood
|
|
Our name, Zwinger vom Roten Wald
(Kennel of the Redwood Forest) was chosen to reflect the area in which
we live. The Coast Redwood Tree is native only
to the California coast from about Monterey to southwest Oregon.
Although many coast redwoods have been cut, some are protected in Muir
Woods, Redwood National Park, and many California and Oregon state
parks. Redwoods are evergreen
conifers. Coast Redwoods grow very tall, often 200 feet, with the
tallest
at 367 feet, which is the tallest living thing! The trunks can grow to
14
feet with bark that is 6 to 12 inches thick.
