The Utah Shared Access Alliance has sued Emery County in an attempt to open up so-called RS 2477 roads for motorized entertainment. All over the west, alleged RS 2477 "highways" cross both private and public land, but "Shared Access" groups do not make the distinction. "Shared Access" advocates want the government to force landowners to share their property with ATVs and motorcycles. But the people who think they have a right to drive around wherever they want are not willing to "share" the burden of property tax, maintanace, cleanup, improvements, and liability with owners. The Utah Shared Access Alliance also pressured the BLM to implement the North Fruita Desert Plan, which designates more than 90 percent of the 76,000 total acres under consideration to motorized use, leaving only 10 percent as a designated non-motorized zone. Landowners in Mesa County have experienced increases in trespassing and damage from ATV riders and motorcyclists who want to "share" their ditchbanks and pastures as shortcuts to the new designated motorized "sacrifice zones". The only thing that the recreational users are willing to share is their dust, oil leaks, and high-decibel engines. "Shared Access" is a code word for anarchy and socialism. Block that Road! As a landowner, it is not only your right, but your civic duty to assert your ownership by blocking alleged RS 2477 roads and keep "Shared Access" socialists off of your property. In case after case, the courts have upheld landowners' rights to prohibit motorized recreation on their private property.
