Happy springtime! The sun is shining
today and the birds are singing away. The soil has been well watered and the plants
are jamming up like weeds (and the weeds are jamming too.) All of nature is alive
and well so it seems and the gardeners are humming with the bees. May is a beautiful
month to be alive in Colorado. It's a crazy time for gardeners as everyone is anxious
for their pots and gardens to receive fresh flowers and the ponds to be cleaned.
We run around like a bunch of ants until we get the last plant planted. Phew!
We are grateful though to be out in the glory of the sun, not too hot, and the
breeze, not too strong.
This year for Blue Planet will be much as last year with John Staman and Robin returning to see to their gardens with crews in tow. We've added a few new gardens, including the Starsmore Hummingbird Gardens.
We continue our pledge to be as organic as possible and succeed in most gardens. Every now and then there
are issues that require we contact Lawn Dr for assistance, but those are few and far between, and usually on brand new gardens that have not been maintained. We make an agreement with the land to use the chemicals just once, then pledge to keep the problems in hand through diligent maintenance.
Some things are new for us this year, with gas prices on the rise; we feel we must raise our rates by $1.00 an hour, bringing the hourly rate to $31.00. (Remember we offer seniors a 10% discount.) And last year we informed our clients with ponds that Blue Planet would be charging $40.00 for pond work, which is well below the other pond services. John Staman is the water wizard and has been doing an excellent job. We are also charging $35.00 per hour for rockwork, which isn't new, but we are just reminding you. You will find these figures are in keeping or below other landscape and pond services.
New clients to Blue Planet will come in at $35.00 per hour, which is fast becoming the standard rate for
all gardeners. Most of you, our beloved clients, have been with us for years, several for a dozen years or more and we appreciate your devotion. We will work to keep our prices as low as we can and still keep our own heads above water. Business has been very good to us as a whole. We are seeking to re-vamp our three little funky trailers soon - fresh paint, logos and new flooring. They have worked hard and deserve some upkeep.
If you should have questions about any of these changes, please feel free to call me or try the email at
www.blueplanetearthscapes.com. We thank you for the pleasure of your gardens. We hope when you spend time in your gardens, you are equally pleased.
Fondly,
Becky The Gardener
