USOF Competition Awards Service Guidelines

As a service to clubs that host championship events, the USOF Competition
Awards Fund provides medals for the championship (for example, age-group or
scholastic) categories at these events, which include:

United States Individual Orienteering Championships
30 age classes, 3 deep in each class (gold, silver, bronze) = 90 medals
(Course classes, like M-Orange, are not championship classes, so no
championship medals are provided for these classes)

North American Orienteering Championships
30 age classes, 3 deep in each class = 90 medals

United States Ski Orienteering Championships
2 distance disciplines, 6 age classes, 3 deep = 36 medals

United States Intercollegiate Orienteering Championships
3 team classes, 3 deep (JV/Var.) & 1 (club), 5 team members = 35 medals
+ 4 individual classes, 3 deep = 12 medals
Total of 47 medals

United States Long Course Orienteering Championships
30 age classes, 3 deep in each class = 90 medals

United States Relay Orienteering Championships
2 point classes, 3 deep, 4 team members = 24 medals

United States Short Course Orienteering Championships
30 age classes, 3 deep in each class = 90 medals

United States Night Orienteering Championships
30 age classes, 3 deep in each class = 90 medals

United States Interscholastic Orienteering Championships
3 team classes, 3 deep, 5 team members = 45 medals

United States Trail Orienteering Championships
1 class, 3 deep = 3 medals

What the medals are for:
Note that these medals do not cover non-championship competition classes at
championship events (such as M-Green at the U.S. Short Course Orienteering
Championships, or F-21+ at the U.S. Intercollegiate Orienteering
Championships). Whatever awards are given in non-championship classes must
be acquired by the host club, separately from the USOF-furnished
championship medals. For information on which competition classes at a
given championship event are championship classes, consult the USOF Rules of
Competition. If you have rules questions, ask your Course Consultant, the
Rules Committee Chairman, the Sanctioning Committee Chairman, or the Vice
President for Competition.

Procedure for acquiring medals:
Upon the USOF Board of Directors awarding a club one of the events listed
above, that club is eligible to receive the corresponding medals. To do
this, the club should contact the Competition Awards Fund Administrator to
arrange either to pick up the awards at an upcoming event or to have them
shipped with the shipping costs paid in advance or reimbursed by the club.
If there are unused medals after an event, they should be returned to the
Fund Administrator or to someone designated by the Fund Administrator.
