USOF POLICY -- LIFE
MEMBERSHIP
Life membership in USOF shall be available
to individuals and families. The fee for a life membership shall be 18 times
the yearly dues rate (18 times the family dues for a family life membership). Life members shall pay no annual dues
after having paid their life membership fee, but shall otherwise have the same
rights and privileges as individual members of USOF. A family life membership
shall be treated the same as a family membership; i.e., only one magazine
subscription will be mailed to the family and dependent children will be
members of USOF.
Life Membership Accounts
Any USOF member desiring to acquire a life
membership on the installment plan may establish a life membership account by
paying into the Investment Account. These payments shall be in addition to
their regular annual dues. When the total of their payments into their life
membership account equals the then current life membership fee, the member
shall become a life member of USOF.
Sustaining Memberships
Individual or family members of USOF may
become sustaining members by paying each year, in addition to their regular
dues, 10% of the cost of a life membership. Upon paying sustaining dues for
nine years, the membership shall become a full life membership, i.e., a 10%
discount on the life fee is granted for sustaining membership. In addition, the
life membership fee for a sustaining member shall remain the same as when they
began their sustaining membership, despite any intervening increases in the
life membership fee, providing they do not allow their sustaining membership to
lapse for more than a year during that period.
Conversions between Life Membership Types
An individual life membership may be
converted into a family life membership at any time by paying the difference
between the individual life fee and the family life fee in effect at the time
of conversion. A family life membership
may be converted into two individual life memberships by paying the current
difference between the family life fee and twice the individual life fee. If a couple separates, their family
life membership may be converted into two life membership accounts with a total
value equal to the current family life fee, split between the two life accounts
however the couple chooses.
